Map Detroit Features
The MapDetroit system is designed to let you explore your city online the same way you’d explore it offline. For example, click on the “Restaurants” Category to see all Downtown Detroit restaurants highlighted on the map. Move the cursor over the building where the restaurant resides and a “Tool Tip” displays the business name. Click on the building and the search results window provides the names of all the businesses housed there. Click on the name of a business in the search results and the navigation window provides more detailed information, such as the address, phone number and hours of operation. In some cases, you can watch a video or take a “virtual tour” as well.

How to use Map Detroit
You have three options when using Mapdetroit.com to find points of interest: By selecting a “Category”, “Search” or by simply pointing to locations on the map and reading the “Tool Tips” that appear.
Categories
When selecting “Categories”, all areas that fall into the chosen category will light up in red on the map. Navigate the mouse over a highlighted area and click on your point of interest to get detailed information. To view other categories, click on another selection and the highlighted areas on the map will change. In some situations, areas of interest will remain highlighted in red; in these cases there is more than one service at that location.

When viewing detailed information about a business or landmark, the category list will be replaced by other data. To retrieve the category list, simply click on the Categories tab on the side of the navigation window.

Keyword Search
Mapdetroit.com makes discovering the treasures and events of Downtown Detroit easy. Just enter your search term in the text field, click on the “Go” icon located to the right of your search request. The system will perform a search of every listing in the database and display the appropriate results in the navigation window for you to browse through.
