AND PARENT FIRM NAVICITI ANNOUNCE LAUNCH OF DETROIT
MIDTOWN MAP
DETROIT
– MapDetroit and its parent company, Naviciti,
have announced the launch of a new interactive
map of the Detroit’s Midtown area, encompassing
the heart of the city’s cultural center.
Visible
at www.mapdetroit.com,
the Midtown map enables visitors to a host of
educational, medical, and cultural institutions
to quickly and easily access up-to-date location
and event information for a variety of area destinations.
Wayne State University, the Detroit Institute
of Arts, the Charles Wright Museum of African-American
History, Cass Technical High School, the College
for Creative Studies, and the Detroit Medical
Center complex are among the noteworthy institutions
within the map’s coverage area, as well
as a plethora of dining, entertainment, and nightlife
destinations along the Woodward corridor.
Beyond
providing ready access to directional information,
the system’s “Event” functionality
enables users to quickly get information on performances,
exhibits, and other special time-sensitive events
of interest through an easy-to-use searchable
interface.
“The
Midtown map launch marks the most significant
expansion of the MapDetroit system to date,”
says company spokesman David B. Livingstone. “The
Midtown area is where thousands of city visitors
and residents go daily for a wide range of needs,
from medical treatment to films at the Detroit
Film Theater. We’re pleased to be able to
offer the public a comprehensive guide to one
of the city’s most dynamic and vibrant centers
of activity.”
The Midtown map supplements MapDetroit’s
existing coverage of the downtown/riverfront area
and Belle Isle Park. “We want to provide
Detroiters and city visitors with the most comprehensive,
engaging, and accurate guide possible to what
there is to see and do here,” Livingstone
explains. “We have many more coverage areas
and service expansions planned for the near future,
but since so many people head to this area daily
for so many reasons, completion of Midtown marks
a significant milestone in this effort.”
